Paolo & Noemia d’Amico

Paolo d’Amico, a Roman of both Salerno and Neapolitan descent, a shipowner for three generations, and Noemia do Amaral Osorio, his wife, a Brazilian of Portuguese descent with a fifteen-year past as “deleguée” of Maison Dior, discovered their love of wine in 1985 with the birth of their first daughter.

Thus came “Villa Tirrena,” always chosen with the passion of both of them for the unusual and for challenges, as well as for the proximity to Rome, where they live.

Against this backdrop, the magnificent setting of the Vaiano badlands became the ideal place to plant their first vineyards, which are now 40 years old and whose first fruits have been Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and even a blend of the Grechetto, a local grape variety.

From an activity that began as a hobby, a company has taken off whose wines have reached such a level of quality that today they are considered among the best products around in the Italian wine scene. A couple of years ago, Paolo and Noemia decided to enter the world of hospitality with their family property Villa Tirrena: a hidden gem for high-end rentals, events and family vacations; today, Villa Tirrena is an example of the incredible work and passion the d’Amico family transmits into their home and what surrounds them.

Founded in 1985, the winery of husband and wife Paolo and Noemia d’Amico, one descended from a
family of shipowners and a lifelong lover of wine, and the other of Portuguese origin and born in Rio de Janeiro, is located in the heart of Tuscia, in an area that stretches on the border between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. It all began about 30 years ago, when they decided to plant the first 5 hectares of vineyards with a Chardonnay base, a variety that to this day allows them to be very competitive on the market thanks to superlative products. Located in the valley of the Calanques, the current 30 hectares of land under conduction organic (non-certified) proliferate on a unique terroir: the long period of volcanic activity and the
consequent rock formation of tuff and peperino give Paolo and Noemia’s wines a refinement unique distinguished by a distinct minerality.
